At least six killed in North Waziristan explosion

MIR ALI: At least six people were killed in a bomb explosion in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan on Tuesday. 

The explosion injured eight other people. The bomb was planted in a motorcycle parked along the side of Bannu Ghulam Khan, said Political Agent Kamran Afridi.

He added that the blast targetted a vehicle and those killed and injured were locals of the area. 

The injured were shifted to the regions DHQ hospital, said the political administration of the area.  

Afridi further said that the explosion is the first major blast after the culmination of Operation Zarb-e-Azb. The government after the military operation, built a market in the area which facilitates people from far-flung areas.

The political agent added that the people of area are not allowed to keep weapons and peace has returned to the area. 

Later in the day, financial aid was announced for those injured in the explosion and families of the deceased, according to Afridi. 

According to the political agent, families of the deceased would be given Rs300,000 each. On the other hand, critically injured persons would get Rs100,000 each while those with light wounds would be given Rs50,000.
