SHEIKHUPURA: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan said on Sunday that once in power his party will not spare former National Accountability Bureau chief Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, until he meets justice and is behind bars.

The PTI chief was addressing a rally in Sheikhupura, which is a part of the party’s continuing string of rallies across Punjab.

Imran claimed that the former NAB chief helped facilitate corruption cases of the government officials.

“Wherever you go we will bring you to task, you are nation's criminal,” said Imran Khan.

Faced great difficulty in holding the rally, said Imran while lambasting Deputy Commissioner Sheikhupura for the hurdles.

“Came to Sheikhupura four years ago, only had 10 percent of the current attendance,” said the PTI chief while expressing his gratitude for the huge number of participants in the rally.

Imran said that people have come to streets against the PML-N.

PTI Chief Imran Khan reached the venue, a hockey stadium, around 4:30pm via helicopter from Lahore.

Before the PTI chief’s speech, Awami Muslim League leader Sheikh Rasheed addressed the gathering.

“Nawaz Sharif is leaving, Imran Khan is coming,” said the leader.

The AML chief gave a time-frame for the fall of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz saying “Their government will end within Dec 11 to March 11.”

The party has been holding rallies across Punjab and Sindh in a bid to galvanise supporters for the general elections as well as to put pressure on the ruling party in light of its legal and political troubles.

Officials said more than a 1,000 police personnel have been deployed to cover the event, where enthusiastic party supporters have amassed.

Speaking in Jaranwala on Friday, Imran had said his party would support Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Tahirul Qadri until it gets justice in the Model Town incident.

The incident, an anti-encroachment operation at the PAT office in Model Town, Lahore in June 2014, left 14 PAT workers dead and around 100 injured.

Imran alleged that the Sharif brothers caused the deaths of 14 people, adding that such incidents will increase if silence is maintained.

The Punjab government, at the behest of the Lahore High Court, made the report for the Model Town incident public on December 5.

The report was drafted by Justice Baqir Najafi and termed the 2014 tragedy as the "most unfortunate incident" in the country's history.

Following the report being made public, the Pakistan People's Party also threw its weight behind the PAT, demanding Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif's resignation.

The PTI and Pak Sarzameen Party have also joined PAT in its call for the chief minister's resignation.
