KARACHI: Alveena, who was involved in the murder of her teenage sister, has been remanded into police custody.

During a proceeding on Monday, Alveena her fiancé Mazhar and two others, Ahsan and Abbas, were brought in the court of judicial magistrate east on Monday.

The judge asked the investigation officer why the accused were not brought before the court within 24 hours of the confession. The officer apologised and requested the court for a five-day remand of the accused.

The judicial remand was requested for medical tests of the accused, which could not be carried out soon after their confession a day earlier as a female doctor was not present, who could check Alveena, the officer said.

Alveena told the court Ahsan had her objectionable photos, over which he and his brother Abbas would blackmail her.

Ahsan and Alveena were in an unofficial relationship, while Mazhar is the latter’s fiancé, it has been reported.

While addressing the media a day earlier, Alveena said Ahsan and Abbas were involved with her sister Aleena in blackmailing her.

However, during Monday’s hearing, Ahsan and Abbas told the court they never blackmailed Alveena, but had instead helped her with Rs25,000 once. They added blackmailers demand, not give money to their target.

The court ordered the investigation officer to look into the case under the light of the law and see that no innocent person was pulled into the probe.

The accused were sent on physical remand into police custody until December 15, while order was also issued for forensic analysis of the accused persons’ mobile phones.

The incident took place in Saudabad area of the city where 16-year-old Aleena was brutally murdered by robbers.

However, on Sunday, 18-year-old Alveena confessed before the media that she was involved in the murder of her sister.

She accepted killing her sister along with her Mazhar.

"Aleena had my [objectionable] pictures, and she didn’t delete them despite my continuous pleading and continued to blackmail me,” she said. “I told Mazhar everything then. He also tried to explain things to Aleena and get her to stop but she didn’t.”

Mazhar also spoke to the media and confessed to the crime. He said Aleena had objectionable pictures of her sister.
