KARACHI: Firefighters managed to douse after sixteen hours a fire that erupted on Monday evening at a godown located on Karachi’s Super Highway.

Eight fire trucks were engaged in efforts to extinguish the fire that erupted sixteen hours ago.

According to latest reports, eighty per cent of the blaze has been contained.

Firefighters were constantly faced with difficulties to douse the fire due to a persistent water shortage, sources told Geo News.

According to the owner of the godown, Abdul Malik, the fire department responded two hours after it was informed of the incident.

“Water was unavailable when the fire trucks finally reached,” Malik told Geo News.

He added that a part of the godown was destroyed, resulting in a loss of Rs70 million.

A two-storey building, the living quarters of employees, was gutted in the incident.
