CNS calls on commander of Turkish Fleet

ISLAMABAD: Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi called on the Commander of Turkish Fleet Vice Admiral Ercument TATLIOGLU and Commander of Turkish Northern Sea Area Rear Admiral (UH) Iskender YILDIRIM on Tuesday.

Professional matters of mutual interest including bilateral naval collaboration and security environment in the Indian Ocean Region were dilated upon during the meeting.

Admiral Abbasi was given detailed briefings regarding the Turkish Fleet Command. He highly appreciated the role and contributions of the Turkish Navy for maintaining maritime peace and stability in the region.

The CNS also visited Golcuk Naval Shipyard and Turkish Navy Ship TCG HEYBELIADA (Milgem Class Corvette) during his official visit to Turkey.

He was received by the Commander of Turkish Fleet upon his arrival at the Golcuk Naval Base at the Turkish Fleet Headquarters.

A ceremonial Guard with Military Honours was presented to the Admiral Mahmood on the occasion.

On his arrival onboard the Turkish Navy Ship, a smartly turned out contingent presented him the guard of honour. During his visit onboard, the Naval Chief interacted with ship’s crew and appreciated their operational competence.

He said that the Pak-Turkey friendship is highly valued and continued cooperation has proven to be a source of strength for both the countries.

The visit is expected to further enhance and expand naval collaboration and defence ties between the two countries and navies.
