George Michael’s special bond with Princess Diana has been laid bare in a new biography about the late pop singer.

David Nolan's new biography ‘George Michael, Freedom, The Ultimate Tribute 1963-2016’ reveals he was one of Diana's closest confidantes, sharing private meetings, phone calls, and wines-fueled tête-à-tête with her.

The late Wham! singer, who met the Princess of Wales backstage at a World AIDS Day Concert in Wembley Arena, London, disclosed it was 'very clear' that she was 'very attracted' to him, according to DailyMailTV.

She even confessed the details of her impending divorce from Charles in 1996 on a recording made at the singer's house in Hampstead, London, and told him she had to escape the 'not-very-loving royals' at any cost.

“Not a very loving, compassionate family, this one I'm leaving,” she once told him.

“There were certain things that happened that made it very clear that she was very attracted to me. There was no question,” he revealed.

The ‘Careless Whisper’ singer attended her funeral in 1997 and donated the song ‘You Have Been Loved’ to a Diana tribute album and released it as a single.

The book has been published four months after George's childhood pal Andros Georgiou told The Sun on Sunday that Diana seemed attracted to the pop superstar.

Andros, who met Diana with George several times, revealed: “She invited George to Kensington Palace for what she called ‘a chinwag’.

“He said she made a point of touching his arm and her hello and goodbye hugs lingered.

"George told me, ‘Nothing happened, but it could have. If I wasn’t gay, I would’.

“Instead they became very close friends. She often confided in him about how unhappy she was with Charles during their meetings.”

“Diana loved being a mother and lit up when she spoke about William and Harry, but said she had never felt like a wife. She was obviously very unhappy and we both felt desperately sorry for her,” Georgiou said.

George Michael was found dead at his home in Goring-on-Thames, UK on Christmas Day, 2016. He was 53.
