PTI’s proposed Karachi package focuses on infrastructure, water

KARACHI: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government’s proposed package for Karachi prioritises infrastructure development, water and sanitation, and environment.

According to details of the proposal obtained by Geo News, the package focuses on improving the infrastructure of the metropolis, building a comprehensive transport system, and treating seawater.

To resolve the city’s water woes, the government has proposed to upgrade the Dhabeji and Pipri pumping stations and build RO plants. It has also suggested treatment of sewage and purification of seawater to deal with the water scarcity.

The package also mentions solid waste recycling and urban forestation.

To improve public amenities, Balaji and Manchar lakes, Karachi Zoo, Safari Park, Kirthar National Park, and other public spaces would be developed.

A bus service and circular railway would be prioritised. An art and culture complex would also be built at Governor House, according to the proposed package.
