Sher Yar Khan's debut single 'Lariya Ishq Tera' leaves fans craving for more

MANCHESTER: British-Pakistani singer Sher Yar Khan’s debut single has received positive reviews from around the world but especially in India.

Khan, who hails from a musical family, has a unique style of singing, which, in a short time, has helped him make his mark in the Asian music scene in the United Kingdom and around the world. The musician has already gained a lot of love and respect on the live circuit during a 12-month period, with many established artists complimenting his ability both as a singer and a producer.

“Lariya Ishq Tera,” his debut single, was released worldwide by an international music label, and has been garnering excellent reviews around the globe, with renowned Indian playback singer Altamash Faridi being all praise for Sher Yar Khan.

A lavish production and a high-budget video shot in Spain also helped the song get highlighted in the South Asian music scene. Khan’s live performances with his band are something special and is sure to leave fans wanting for more.

Speaking exclusively to Geo.tv, Khan said: “Music was always in my blood … growing up listening to my father Naeem-ul-Hassan, who is a Pride of Performance Award winner in Pakistan. Watching him perform everywhere, I looked up to him and got connected to music.

“I'm a big fan of and believer in creativity, and music itself is a creative thing, so whoever puts the magic into music and creates a magical piece, I get influenced by them,” he said, adding that his inspirations included his father, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Mehdi Hassan, Muhammad Rafi, Kishor Kumar, and Michael Jackson.

“I have been performing and learning music for a long time and covered numerous songs but there was always a huge demand from the audience to come up with my own song. So I thought to myself that I will only launch myself into this gigantic industry when I can be proud of the song.

“It took a long time to find the right song and the credit for that goes to my management. The challenge, then, was to do justice to the song by making sure the production and video were of the highest level. Again, my management was very influential in this and the end result was ‘Lariya Ishq Tera’,” he added.

The song has been a massive hit and, within weeks, has attracted more than 235,000 views on YouTube. Sher Yar Khan has caught the attention of numerous leading filmmakers from both India and Pakistan for playback singing.
