KARACHI: A scuffle broke out between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA and MPA and their respective supporters on Tuesday over alleged land grabbing in the metropolis.

According to reports, supporters of MPA Rabistan Khan assaulted MNA Aftab Jahangir when the two were returning from a tour of Surjani Town. A sling of verbal abuse followed, and some even attempted to attack Jahangir.

The MNA was able to escape the onslaught by getting into his car, but his coordinator was not so lucky and copped some blows from the angry mob.

Sources familiar with the matter said the situation arose when one of the groups accused the other of supporting the land mafia.

According to sources from the Karachi Development Authority, land measurement was being carried out in Surjani Town Sector 6-C upon request from the land owners when illegal occupants began to gather and protest.

PTI Karachi President Khurram Sher Zaman said the party is looking into the incident and will refer the matter to a disciplinary committee.
