LAHORE: The operations of Lahore-Wazirabad train service, Babu Passenger Train, have been suspended for an indefinite period.

A notification issued by the Pakistan Railways on Wednesday said the train service has been halted but did not state a reason for the suspension.

Used mostly by the working-class and students, the Babu Passenger Train used to depart Wazirabad at 5am and arrive at Lahore at 7am on a daily basis.

“The train was the only source of transportation for government workers and students,” a passenger said.

“In place of Babu Passenger Train they will now run Mianwali Express and Faisalabad Non-Stop trains which are in a loss,” he added.

Further, the passenger said, "If the railways does not restore the train service then we will stage a protest."
