ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet meeting is under way at PM House in the capital with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the chair.

The session is mulling over the country's political and economic situation.

Sources said that the prime minister will take cabinet members into confidence over his recent visit to Saudi Arabia.

Moreover, the federal cabinet will give approval for the decisions of the Economic Coordination Committee, the sources said.

The sources further said that the meeting will also take into consideration the strategy for the next session of the national assembly.

As per an official notification, the agenda of the meeting will revolve around several issues such as appointment of chairman Heavy Industries Taxila Board, signing of MOU between Oman Association for Writers and Literati and Pakistan Academy of Letters. The agenda also includes discussion on issuance of official passport to the NAB officers going on official assignments.

This week, PM Imran Khan went to Saudi Arabia on a two-day official visit to attend a much-anticipated investment conference that numerous other world leaders and corporates skipped over the issue of dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi's death.

During his visit, the prime minister struck a 12-month deal for a balance of payments lifeline from Saudi Arabia, which will deposit $3 billion with Pakistan's central bank and provide a matching one-year deferred payment facility for oil imports.
