LAHORE: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar on Thursday took notice of thrashing of a man by students of Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) at the Punjab University campus, after videos of the incident went viral.

Videos circulating on social media show some IJT students beating up a man outside the university’s History Department, as a large crowd of people looks on while a woman screams at the alleged perpetrators to stop.

The man, according to reports, had gone to pick up his wife, an MPhil student, from the campus and was standing with her when the said group of students gathered around the couple and started thrashing him.

The university administration has not yet taken a formal notice of the incident, nor has it taken any action against the alleged perpetrators.

Governor Chaudhry Sarwar took notice of the incident earlier today and summoned a report from the university’s vice chancellor.
