KARACHI: An entrance test for medical colleges that is being held as per the uniform admission policy across Sindh today (Sunday) was leaked last night.

The entrance test had been leaked and was being sold in Dadu, Hyderabad and Larkana. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had taken several into custody for allegedly leaking the paper.

However, National Testing Service (NTS) head Syed Masood Hussain Rizvi said reports regarding the test leaking have been doing the rounds for a week. “The paper that was being distributed is old,” he added.

"Ignore the date that is mentioned on the paper that was being sold," Rozvi asserted.

Commenting on the leak, Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) Vice Chancellor Dr Tariq Rafi said, “It is the responsibility of NTS to prepare and transport the tests to centres.”

Liaquat Medical University vice chancellor second Rafi's statement and said, "We have nothing to do with the leak as the test is overlooked by NTS."

The admission test is being held in Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana and Sukkur among other cities.

Last month, Dr Rafi had announced that for the first time in the history of medical and dental colleges in the province, students will be given admission through a uniform policy.

Addressing a press conference at the JSMU in Karachi on September 28, Dr Rafi had said, “Only Sindh domicile holders are eligible for admission in public medical institutions while domicile holders belonging to other provinces are eligible to apply in private medical colleges and universities.”

Dr Rafi had further said, “Only one entry test will be conducted for public and private medical colleges and universities.”

In the new admission policy, some changes have also been made to the quota of foreign students. Previously, students who did O and A levels were eligible for admission on seats reserved for foreign students but the new policy states that foreign national students should have acquired education from their respective host country in the last two years before applying.
