Majority of educational institutions across Pakistan to remain closed on Friday

KARACHI: Due to ongoing protests and blockades on routes, majority of educational institutions across the country would remain closed on Friday.

Private educational institutions will remain closed tomorrow in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Sindh's Karachi, while Balochistan government has said that schools across the province will remain closed as well.

The Sindh government has announced to closure of all educational institutions tomorrow.

Minister for Education Sindh Sardar Shah said that all institutions in the province will remain opened as per schedule except for Karachi.

Private schools in Karachi would remain closed on Friday, said a statement by the All Sindh Private Schools Association.

Karachi’s Iqra University will remain opened on Friday, said the registrar, adding that the exams tomorrow have been postponed. 

According to IBA spokesman, a ceremony for job portal under the university have been postponed.

Masters and PHD examinations in the NED University have been postponed, said the registrar.

Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad has also announced a holiday on Friday. The varsity will remain closed on the orders of Federal Ministry of Education, the administration said in a statement.

Academic activities will remain suspended at International Islamic University on Friday, university administration said.

The Federal Urdu University of Arts, Sciences and Technology has also cancelled all examinations scheduled for Friday, the controller examinations said in a statement.

All exams will be held on Saturday as per the schedule, the controller examinations added.

Punjab government's Higher Education Department in a notification said that all public and privately managed universities and colleges in Punjab will remain closed on Nov 2, 2018.

All private schools in Southern Punjab will remain closed, said Private Schools Association South Punjab.

The supplementary exams under Punjab Secondary Education Board for Intermediate on Nov 2 and 3 have been postponed too, said the Punjab government spokesman, adding that new dates will be announced later.

Private Schools Management Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa announced to close all schools tomorrow.

Adviser Education KP Ziaullah Bangash said that all government schools will remain open on Friday and studies will resume.

According to Women University Swabi’s administration, the educational institution will remain closed on Friday.

The Swat University administration said that the papers scheduled for tomorrow have been postponed and new date will be announced soon.

On Wednesday, All Pakistan Private Schools Association had announced that schools would remain closed on Thursday (today).
