LAHORE: A child fruit vendor, who had been attacked and robbed of all bananas on his cart by protesters staging a demonstration following a Supreme Court verdict acquitting Asia Bibi, on Monday said he just wanted to save his donkey’s and his own life.

Speaking to the media alongside Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, the child fruit vendor said, “I was passing by when people gathered in the area stole all my bananas. I just wanted to save my donkey and myself and I don’t know who those people were.”

He further said, "My brother had given me those bananas to sell but some people stole them.”

A video had gone viral of the child being robbed of the bananas on his cart at Sheikhupura's Batti Chowk area.

In the video, the protesters could be seen attacking the young boy’s fruit cart loaded with bananas as he struggled to push them with the help of a stick.

Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry had taken notice of the incident and directed the Punjab Government to find the boy and provide compensation.
