LAHORE: Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry Sunday said that the degree of DG NAB Lahore was termed fake soon after he apprehended Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif.

Speaking at a press conference here, Chaudhry said Shahzad Saleem had been serving in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for nearly 20 years, questioning why did the former government not take action if the senior official had a fake degree.

He said the opposition members were concerned about themselves and their children, but Prime Minister Imran Khan has no personal agenda.

The minister also took exception to Pakistan Peoples Party's Khursheed Shah and Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

"Even the PPP members do not know who Khursheed Shah is standing with," he said.

"Everything is fine for Maulana Fazlur Rehman as long as he is in the government. This is the only government which is functioning without him."

Chaudhry said the politics of Imran Khan was for the country and nation.

'Political nomad'

Reacting to Chaudhry's statement, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb demanded an explanation from him whether he made the statement being NAB's spokesman or the government's.

She termed Chaudhry a "political nomad", who neither had a party nor an ideology. Aurangzeb said the information minister was unaware of parliamentary values and traditions.

The PML-N spokesperson said despite being in government, Imran Khan and his cabinet ministers were still possessed by Nawaz and Shehbaz Sharif.
