MITHI: A newborn baby was brought to a hospital in Mithi, Tharparkar inside a luggage bag, prompting the hospital authorities to immediately put the child on life support.

Born in a local village a few hours ago, the baby was brought to Civil Hospital Mithi by his parents.

To the astonishment of medics, the newborn was wrapped in clothes and zipped up in a bag. Fortunately, the baby survived despite the bag being closed.

Hospital staff immediately put the child on life support.

Parents said the baby was born premature and they kept him in the bag so that he might not catch cold.

Hospital authorities said the baby could have died, had he been kept in the bag for some more time.

They said that small distance between the family's village and hospital helped the baby survive.
