ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal has said the watchdog has stepped up efforts to arrest proclaimed offenders and absconders and is investigating cases as per mega-corruption laws.

In a statement issued earlier, Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal said it is a national obligation as well as NAB’s foremost priority to eliminate corruption from the country. The anti-corruption watchdog devised an effective strategy to root out corruption and its officers are committed to end corruption without any discrimination, he noted.

He said that the accountability bureau has accelerated its efforts to arrest proclaimed offenders and absconders and is investigating cases as per mega-corruption laws.

Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal said the NAB serves as a role model in crackdown against irregularities and corruption for other South Asian countries. He shared that the bureau has set up its own state-of-the-art forensics laboratory which has helped it in taking important cases to their logical conclusion based on evidence.

He further said that the anti-corruption body has signed a number of memorandum of understandings with China for cooperation in ending corruption.
