Gunmen injure grandson, nephew of ex-CM Balochistan in Karachi

KARACHI: Unidentified gunmen in the early hours of Friday injured two men identified as grandson and nephew of former caretaker chief minister Balochistan Naseer Mengal, sources said.

Initial reports suggest the incident took place in the city’s upscale Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase-5 neighbourhood.

Injured Matiullah Khan and Samiullah have been shifted to a nearby hospital.

Police have launched an initial probe after reaching at the site.

Speaking to the media later, Naseer Mengal said that his grandson and nephew were out of danger and recovering at the hospital. He said this was not the first time that his family is attacked.

Mengal, however, added that he and his family do not have personal enmity with anyone.
