LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has stopped the government from demolishing the Punjab Governor House boundary walls. The court was hearing a petition against to immediately stop the demolition filed by Khawaja Mohsin Abbas.

The LHC has summoned replies from the federal and Punjab governments.

The petition seeks to make the federal and Punjab governments parities in the case and states that the order of the prime minister will waste taxpayer money.

The petition further states that the Punjab Governor House is a historic building and under the Supreme Court’s order, no historic building can be damaged.

On Sunday, the government started demolishing the boundary wall of the Punjab Governor House a day after Prime Minister Imran Khan’s order.

The Governor’s House administration, following the instructions of the prime minister, started demolishing the wall which was to be replaced by a metal fence.
