QUETTA: Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) member Abdul Rasheed won the by-election on Balochistan Assembly seat PB-47, Kech-II, held on Friday, according to unverified and unofficial results.

Rasheed secured 7,088 votes, defeating Balochistan National Party-Mengal's Jameel Dashti, who got 5,758 votes.

National Party's Fida Hussain Dashti was at third place with 3,055 votes.

Polling for the seat began at 8am and ended at 5pm.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had declared all 60 polling stations extremely sensitive and had deployments of Levies force and Frontier Corps personnel.

A public holiday was also declared in Kech district by the provincial government.

During the 2018 general election, BAP's Abdul Rauf Rind had emerged as the successful candidate on the seat. However, ECP had declared the election null and void as Rind was found to be a dual national.
