KARACHI: Anti-encroachment drives in the city are specifically being carried out in those areas where there are voters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), a federal minister claimed on Sunday.

Faisal Vawda, the federal minister associated with the ruling PTI, said he hoped it does not come to being forced to renting out bulldozers to remove the "encroachments on the other side".

Adding to this, Imran Ismail, the governor of Sindh, advised Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar to first conduct the anti-encroachment operation against the "powerful people".

However, Akhtar, a member of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), retorted that prior to taking the Sindh Governor office, Ismail had favoured a protest to demolish the walls of the Bilawal House

"Those who are being cheeky towards me about not 'clashing' with the 'powerful people' should first make good on their promises," he added.
