KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board has increased the budget for PSL franchises to include a 21st player in each squad, to give more opportunities to the country’s local cricketing talent.
“In a bid to encourage local talent, each team will now have additional budget to select 21-member squads for this HBL PSL season,” said a statement by PSL.
The newly-inducted players will be from Pakistan and may include players unearthed through talent hunt programs, top performers from the National T20 Cup or remaining players from the draft pool.
This is the second consecutive year for PCB to allow franchises to keep 21 players.
The move will allow franchises to pick talent who went unpicked in PSL draft held last month.
Franchises can also pick players from talent hunt organised by them.
