PESHAWAR: Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid on Saturday criticised the National Assembly and said the appointment of Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif as Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman shows the worth of the Parliament.

Speaking to the media in Peshawar, Rashid said, “We will sign an agreement for a new track between Karachi and Peshawar before March. We do not have resources and were given a looted exchequer and a debt of Rs30 billion.”

Responding to a question the railways minister said, “There will only be a trailer of a protest. Music will play but no one has the whole tune. Shehbaz has gotten some respite but December 24 will be an important day for Nawaz.”

Rashid continued, “Here, only the poor serve sentences and politicians are shifted to hospitals and production orders are issued for them while they are on remand.”

On Shehbaz being appointed PAC chairman, the railways minister said, “Imran Khan is a simple politician. This is the Assembly’s worth that the biggest thief has been appointed PAC chairman.”
