Driver severely injured as car rams into footpath near Karachi's Safari Park

KARACHI: One person was severely wounded during a traffic accident Monday night here on the metropolis' University Road, authorities confirmed, adding that the crash occurred due to overspeeding.

According to the rescue officials, the driver, who was the only person in the vehicle and was injured, lost the control of his car at high speed late last night and ploughed into a tree on the sidewalk.

The wounded person was immediately transferred to a nearby private hospital, officials said. The car, they added, was en route in the direction of NIPA intersection.

The injured man was not identified.
