ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda said on Monday that Shehbaz Sharif’s demand about rebidding on Mohmand dam’s contract is a conspiracy.

The federal minister was addressing the National Assembly, where the opposition walked out of the session.

Vawda said that the opposition leader said that financial bid was awarded for the dam, however, it is still open.

The minister further said that Shehbaz couldn't understand the PEMRA rules as they were in English.

He said that the country was looted with impunity while the project was on paper since 54 years.

Earlier in the NA session, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shehbaz Sharif demanded that there should be rebidding for the contracts of the Mohmand dam as the entire procedure seemed questionable.

Shehbaz said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government gave the contract after the process started by the PML-N government.

"PEPRA though allows single bid, the dam construction can take five to six years so why there was so urgency in awarding the contract. The process could have been re-started," he said. " Heavens won't have fallen on re-bidding. It's a matter of Rs309 billion."
