KARACHI: The Sindh Food Authority (SFA) sealed a famous local bakery in the city's Guru Mandir neighbourhood following a raid it conducted Tuesday night.

According to the SFA officials, the bakery was closed "temporarily" due to "poor hygienic conditions and a lack of proper cleaning arrangements" inside its on-site kitchen.

Officials also explained that the bakery was given warnings earlier but its management neither paid any heed to them nor made any changes to improve the conditions.

Further, there was no receipt of the purchases the bakery made of raw materials and supplies. Its employees also did not come up to the mark as per the health standard the authority has set, the officials noted.
