ANKARA: Pakistan Embassy Ankara and Pakistan Consulate General Istanbul are in constant touch with relatives of late iconic actor Roohi Bano for transferring remains of her body to Pakistan from Turkey, the embassy said in a statement Friday.

Bano, who passed away on Jan 25 at a hospital in Istanbul, was buried at a graveyard in the same city as per doctors’ advice.

"... As per health experts and keeping in view the environment of the body’s final resting place, decomposition may take two to four months," the Pakistan Embassy Ankara said in the statement.

"When advised by the Turkish health authorities, and as per the wishes of the family of the deceased, the remains of late Roohi Bano would be transferred accordingly to Pakistan at government expenses."

However, the embassy requested the media to respect privacy of the bereaved family and desist from frequent contacts with the family.

It said the media would be updated if any development took place in this regard.
