LAHORE: A first information report (FIR) was filed here Tuesday night against police officers for allegedly subjecting a minor boy to brutal torture but the child's relatives complained that no arrests had been made to date.

According to the family of Ahmed, the boy who was allegedly tortured, an FIR was filed in the Chuhang police station against nine police officers, including Sher Shah police checkpoint in-charge Saeed Ahmed and officers Asad Lateef and Faisal Ashraf who were named and six other unidentified ones.

The case was filed on behalf of Ahmed's mother, Yasmeen.

According to 10-year-old Ahmed, a resident of Green Town, an unidentified young man duped him three days ago and took him to a mobile phone shop, where he was made to sit as security against a cellphone.

Ahmed narrated that the young men subsequently left the shop, saying he was going to show a mobile phone to someone but, instead, vanished. When he didn't return, the shopkeeper handed the boy over to the police.

According to the minor boy, police officers kept asking him about the young man who reportedly vanished but refused to believe anything he said despite his multiple assertions.

The officers then resorted to torture and burnt him with hot iron and heater, he claimed.

While speaking to Geo News, Ahmed's maternal uncle demanded justice.

On the other hand, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar took notice of the incident and the capital city police officer (CCPO) suspended the checkpoint in-charge.

Separately, CM Punjab's spokesperson Dr Shahbaz Gill and Child Protection Bureau chairperson Sarah Ahmed went to visit the child, where the former announced complete treatment for him.
