ISLAMABAD: With ever increasing number of vehicles, in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, the residents are facing problems like traffic jams and lack of parking space.

Most of the people park their vehicles on the roadsides that often lead to traffic jam.

It has been found that people are facing parking problems at Aabpara, Karachi Company, Super Market, Jinnah Super, Weekly Bazaar G-6, Raja Bazaar, Commercial Market Saddar and at other places.

The visitors at markets have to park their vehicles along the main road that not only creating traffic jams, but also resulting in accidents at times.

Moreover, going for shopping to G-6 bazaar on motorbike is a nightmare, as they have to park their bikes either on footpath or on the roads.

A visitor Faisal Khan said "I visit Abpara market frequently and always face difficulty due to the absence of proper parking place".

Another visitor said that it is really difficult to park a vehicle and then drive it out on return as speeding vehicles are always posing a serious danger there.

A shopkeeper at Aabpara Market said that vehicles parked at roadsidecovered a major portion of the road, which could cause accidents. The road mess also affected business at the market.

An official of Capital Development Authority (CDA) told APP that CDA was well aware of the problem being faced by the people and would try to address the issue soon.

The civic body has also planned to construct parking lots in major markets of the city to ensure free flow of traffic, he said.
