RAWALPINDI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Tuesday recommended placing former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi's name on the exit control list (ECL) in connection to an ongoing probe pertaining to the liquefied natural gas (LNG) contract case, sources said.

The accountability watchdog has written a letter to the Ministry of Interior requesting that Abbasi's name be placed on ECL, the sources said.

According to the accountability bureau, the letter has been written following approval of DG NAB Rawalpindi Irfan Naeem Mangi. The letter states that Abbasi is named in a LNG contract case which is being probed and thus should be placed on the no-fly list, the sources further said.

Abbasi appeared before NAB Rawalpindi today after it rejected his petition for 15-day exemption from appearances.

Speaking to the media after his appearance, the former premier said, "If NAB calls me everyday then I will come everyday. I have provided NAB with all documents that they asked for."
