KARACHI: Hundreds of patients visiting Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Center (JPMC) and National Institute of Child Health (NICH) on Friday heaved a sigh of relief as doctors and staffers announced to call off their strike temporarily.
No patient except the emergency cases were attended since Monday while token strike of two hours in the morning was the norm for previous fifteen days.
"The decision to temporarily cancel our protest is in view that the 18th amendment implementation commission has decided to defer the devolution of health ministry, for a while, as it needed further consultation," said Press Secretary of Joint Action Committee of JPMC and NICH Dr. Mohmmad Usman Malik, on Friday.
He said that doctors and allied professionals also did not want to keep patients suffering and denied of needed medical assistance.(APP)
