Land conflict claims 7 lives in Dir

Dir: Seven persons including two women have been killed and several others injured in land dispute for the construction of a micro-hydel power station in Dir Upper, Geo News reported.

According to police sources, two armed groups took position and entered into a crossfire on dispute over acquisition of land for construction of a small hydel power station. The firing resulted in the death of four persons from one and three from the other side. The victims also included two women.

The incident has occurred in a far-flung mountainous area and the arrival of police also took time. A group of the infuriated also put the house of a person of the rival group on fire.

However, the police station concerned later registered FIR of the incident and further investigations are in progress.

The injured were shifted to the local hospital where as the dead bodies were handed over to the relatives.
