KARACHI: On the directives of President Asif Ali Zardari, the Sindh government has prepared a comprehensive plan to ensure that 1 million children get admissions in schools, said Provincial Minister for Information Sharjeel Inam Memon while meeting a delegation of teachers at his office on Wednesday.
He also said government has provided free of cost textbooks to some 4 million students.
Memon said government is going all out for the betterment of education and in the last three years, 14,000 teachers have been appointed on merit in the province. He also said 4,000 schools were provided all basic facilities and 0.4 million girls were provided funds, on monthly basis, to acquire education.
On knowing that some 4.6 million children are still deprived of education, he said, government is trying all to spread education. The minister highlighted that 300 schools were opened under public-partnership and the opening of 700 schools are in final stages.
He informed that with cooperation of IBA (Sukkur), 4 community colleges in Dadu, Naushehroferoze, Jacobabad and Khairpur are being established and Cadet Colleges are being established in Mithi, Dadu, Benazirabad and Garhi Khuda Buksh. (PPI)
