GUJRANWALA: A woman whose husband allegedly doused her in petrol before setting her on fire a few days ago succumbed to her burn wounds on Friday in Lahore's Jinnah Hospital, Geo News reported.

In a final video statement to the police from her deathbed, the woman said her husband — identified as Arif — was her murderer.

According to police, the deceased woman, who was identified as Tania, was critically wounded but was unable to recover from the burn wounds. She had said in her statement that her husband threw petrol on her before burning her. He also often physically abused her over petty arguments and disagreements, she claimed.

A first information report (FIR) was registered in this regard, police said, and an investigation initiated.
