Karachi witnessed rise in street, other crimes in Ramzan-ul-Mubarak: CPLC

KARACHI: The metropolis witnessed a rise in street and other crimes during Ramzan-ul-Mubarak, according to the latest report issued by the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC).

From the first to 27th of Ramzan, 1,418 mobile phones in total were snatched. The number of cars snatched and stolen was 133, whereas in terms of bikes, it was 2,396.

On the other hand, for the month of May 2019, 2,708 motorcycles were stolen and snatched, although 235 were successfully recovered.

In the same period, 1,635 mobile phones were stolen and 2,657 snatched. Of these, 285 were successfully recovered.

Further, 119 cars were stolen and 27 snatched. However, 49 were successfully recovered.

At least 31 people were killed. There was one case of kidnapping for ransom and two of extortion.
