ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Sherry Rehman said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government was sending a petty message by preventing Maryam Nawaz Sharif from seeing her father Nawaz Sharif on chaand raat.

“By preventing @MaryamNSharif from seeing her father in jail on chaand raat the government is sending out a very petty, dehumanised image of itself. The smell of vendetta is clouding the air to spell a new era of vicious polarisation. Not a profile any mature government would wish for,” Sherry Rehman wrote on Twitter.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday said that she was not allowed to meet her father on Eid-ul-Fitr.

“After spending Eid-ul-Azha with my father in jail, this will be my first Eid without my parents…Nawaz Sharif is spending Eid-ul-Azha, Ramzan and Eid-ul-Fitr in jail because he committed the crime of demanding implementation on the Constitution of Pakistan,” Maryam said.

PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif condemned the move by the jail authorities to not let the family meet Nawaz

"Not letting Nawaz meet his mother and daughter on Eid is political revenge," said Shehbaz.
