LAHORE: Singer-model Meesha Shafi on Monday challenged the governor of Punjab in the Lahore High Court (LHC) for rejecting her review appeal of the ombudsperson's orders.

The Punjab ombudsperson had earlier set aside Shafi's case — when she made allegations of sexual harassment against Ali Zafar — saying she was never an employee of the alleged harasser.

The LHC consequently has summoned the lawyers of both parties to argue their case.

Shafi's legal team said it was not a prerequisite for sexual harassment claims to have an employer-employee relation between the survivor and the predator. The provincial ombudsperson can be contacted if there is a case of sexual harassment at workplace, they added.

Shafi's legal team added that they appeal the LHC to rule the Punjab governor's rejection of her review appeal to be invalid.
