Commuters demand abolishment of unnecessary police checkpoints
ISLAMABAD: Residents of twin cities have urged Islamabad Capital Territory administration to abolish unnecessary police pickets that has been evacuated by the police personals but huge blockers are still there creating hurdles in the traffic flow.

More than 80 police pickets were installed in order to scrutinize the suspected terrorists entering federal capital in wake of growing insurgency.

Talking to PPI commuters from Islamabad expressed dismay over the pickets set up at various points even in residential and commercial areas. According to them these 'hindrances' were of no use in stopping the terror acts in the capital and instead created difficulties for motorists and pedestrians too.

A lady commuter Gulnaz Awan said she often use to travel from 9th while returning to home but her routine traveling she faces wrath on the picket present opposite to double road. She said long queues of vehicle adds the commuters miseries, and she takes extra 30 minutes to reach her destination due to traffic mess on security checkpoints.

She added those pickets installed at the entry points of Federal Capital were somehow useful to prevent possible entry of suspected elements into the Islamabad but on the other hand police pickets set on exit points of Federal Capital seems to be a futile exercise.

Farrukh Javed a taxi driver said police picket set up in between the Barakhu and Satramile Toll Plaza has become a nuisance for commuters and transporters. He complained that security personals posted on this picket just tease the commuters as well as transports on the name of security check. He alleged that these police personals demanded hefty amount from loaded vehicles in account of bribe.

When contacted to SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan in this regard he justified that the crime rate have been decreased due to presence of these pickets. He asked people to inform Police high ups in case of any misshape on police check points. He assured those personals would be dealt strictly involve in bribery.
