Brother, uncle arrested for murdering transgender person in Nowshera

NOWSHERA: A transgender person's brother and paternal uncle shot them dead over honour here in the city's Babu Khor locality, police said on Sunday.

According to Zardad Khan, the station house officer (SHO) of Nowshera Cantt, the body of A* was found in Nowshera's Babu Khor area and they had been shot dead.

SHO Zardad Khan said A was a member of a transgender group in Peshawar and that their father, Aurangzeb, had filed a report with the Hashtnagri Police that A was with members of the transgender group.

Acting on the report filed by A's father, Aurangzeb, Hashtnagri Police handed A over to their father late last night. Subsequently, on Sunday morning, A's bullet-ridden body was found.

The SHO said police took A's father, Aurangzeb, into custody and discovered during the initial questioning that A's brother, Adnan, and paternal uncle, Jamshed honour, had killed them over honour.

The body, police added, has been moved to the district headquarters (DHQ) hospital, a first information report (FIR) registered, and an investigation started.
