LAHORE: A first information report (FIR) of murder was filed Monday against a lawyer and his wife over the recovery of a 14-year-old domestic help's body found in their house.

Police said they have registered a case against lawyer Chaudhry Manzoor Advocate and his wife after the deceased's mother recorded a statement with authorities and alleged that her daughter was murdered.

Police further mentioned that those named in FIR have not been arrested yet.

The body, which had been sent for post-mortem earlier, was handed over to the bereaved family after the tests were completed and the relatives subsequently took it to their hometown in Pakpattan.

Samples obtained from the dead body have been sent to a forensic lab.

In addition, police noted that the girl was against the second marriage of her mother and that became a reason why the duo often had arguments. Regardless, the truth can only be ascertained once the forensic and post-mortem reports are released and an investigation completed.

'She was murdered'

A day prior, the 14-year-old's body was found with a noose tied around her neck from lawyer Manzoor's house here in Ichhra.

An investigation from all angles has been commenced, police had said then.

The girl's mother had told police her daughter was employed at Manzoor's residence some 40 days ago. She had said she received a call from the lawyer's house, saying her daughter's condition was not good and that she should take her away. However, upon arrival, the lawyer's family claimed that the girl had committed suicide.

She appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar to get her justice. "My daughter did not commit suicide. She was murdered," she said.
