MULTAN: An arrest warrant was issued Wednesday by a local court for the investigative officer in the Qandeel Baloch murder case over his no-show despite multiple summonses.

The district and additional session judge issued the arrest warrant for Noor Akbar, a sub-inspector (SI) of police and the investigative officer in the Qandeel Baloch murder case, during a hearing of the case.

The judge also ordered that SI Akbar's one-month salary be distrained.

The primary suspect in the murder case, Mohammad Waseem, was also presented in the court for the hearing.

The judge subsequently adjourned the hearing till July 17.

In a June 19 hearing, Waseem, the primary suspect, had submitted a petition to request that his state-provided lawyer be changed. He had been presented in court alongside the other accused, including Haq Nawaz, Zafar, Abdul Basit, and Mufti Abdul Qavi.

On the other hand, the cross-questioning of Aslam Shaheen, another suspect in the Qandeel Baloch murder case, was completed during the hearing.
