ISLAMABAD: The accountability court, hearing the fake accounts case on Monday, extended the remand of Pakistan People’s Party leader Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur for 10 days.

The court was hearing the money laundering case today, due to which the National Accountability Bureau officials presented the former president amid strict security.

The NAB requested for extension in the remand of the suspects by two weeks. The court turned down the request for the said time period and extended the remand by 10 days only.

The court ordered that the suspects should be presented before it again on August 10.

Speaking to media, former president Zardari said that they were accused of embezzling millions of rupees but no one questions Abdul Hafeez Sheikh.

NAB is investigating four cases where the former president and his sister are the prime accused. The cases pertain to transactions worth hundreds of millions of rupees to the two leaders' private companies, allegedly, through fake bank accounts.
