British HC calls on Punjab Governor
LAHORE: The British High Commissioner to Pakistan Adam Thomas called on the Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khosa at the Governor house here Saturday.

The British High Commissioner briefed the governor about British government's assistance in re-structuring of primary education in Pakistan. He said that the British government would provide 208 million pounds sterling to Pakistan, adding that this amount would be increased to 446 million next year.

He said that the British people wished to lift the number of children in primary schools, adding that transparency in primary education is also the motive of his government.

Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Governor said that Pakistan enjoys fraternal relations with the UK, urging the British government must help Pakistan in access to the European Union (EU) as well US markets.

Khosa said that education was the antidote to intolerance, extremism and terrorism in the country, adding that only education could help to stem the rot.

Punjab Governor also sought British expertise in other areas including transport, higher education as well as information technology.

The British High commissioner assured Punjab Governor of his government all out help in all areas with the aim to improve literacy rate as well as promote economic activity in the country.(APP)
