Youm-e-Ashur observed across Pakistan amid tight security

Muslims across the country observed Youm-e-Ashur, the 10th of Muharram today with religious zeal to pay homage to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).

Taazia and Zuljanah processions were taken out in all cities and towns across the country today in memory of martyrs of Karbala.

Ulema and Zakireen highlighted the bright and candid teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and various aspects of Karbala tragedy.

The federal and provincial governments took strict security measures to maintain law and order on the occasion. Law enforcement agencies were put on high alert throughout the country to deal with any eventuality.

Pillion riding was banned and cell phone service suspended in various cities across the country.

Closed-circuit cameras were installed at sensitive points to keep a watch on majalis and processions.

On Monday, large processions on the 9th of Muharram were carried out in different cities across the country to keep the memory of Karbala alive in the hearts and minds of the faithful.

According to reports, the main procession in Karachi started from Nishtar Park and took the traditional route through the city. In Lahore, the main procession emerged from Islampura.

Processions also proceeded peacefully in the federal capital Islamabad as well as the provincial capitals Quetta and Peshawar.
