ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police Rural Circle arrested six impostors of an inter-provincial gang and recovered 18 fake registration books of vehicles, fake stamps of various police stations of the country, 16 fake number plates, two rifles, blank registration books of 30 vehicles and two tempered vehicles from their possession, a police spokesman said here on Wednesday.
A special team including SHO Nilore police station Ch. Muhammad Siddique, Inspector Syed Imtiaz Shah, Sub-Inspector Shafique and other police officials was constituted to arrest auto-theives.
This team conducted raid at a house in Nilore police station area and arrested six persons of an inter-provincial gang who were involved in selling cars after preparing their fake documents.
During this raid, police recovered 18 fake registration books, bogus stamps of various police stations of country, route permits, 16 fake registration number plates, two rifles, 125 rounds, files of several vehicles, affidavit papers, blank registration books of 30 vehicles, cheque books and two tempered vehicles.
The nabbed persons were identified as Javed Iqbal, Sajjad Ahmed, Jabber Ahmed, Muhammad Faisal, Rameez and Junaid Khalid. The ring leader of this gang Muhammad Irfan s/o Noor Alam resident of Gojra district Toba Tek Singh managed to escape from there and separate police team has been sent to arrest him.
During the preliminary investigation, these nabbed persons confessed to sell bank defaulted vehicles, non custom paid and stolen vehicles to the people in remote areas of the country after preparing their fake registration books and transfer letters.
Police teams have been constituted to recover vehicles sold after being preparing fake registration books and number plates by this gang.
IGP Islamabad Bani Amin has directed to award prizes and commendation certificates to the policemen who busted this gang and also for earliest recovery of vehicles.
