ISLAMABAD: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has directed to submit the inquiry report of NLC scandal on June 30.
PAC while taking strong notice about the deployment of Ranger personnel on security of private persons and non-entitled officers directed to withdraw all such facility within a month.
The PAC meeting was held here with Chaudry Nisar Ahmed Khan in the chair and attended by other members including Yasmeen Rahman, Nadeem Afzal Chan, Riaz Fatyana, Saeed Ahmad Zafar and Sardar Ayyaz Sadiq.
The meeting reviewed the loss to NLC after the investment in stock market.
Chaudhry Nisar said that Army Chief directed to complete the inquiry report in two months but seven months have passed and report was not submitted yet.
He said that few reports held three retired Lieutenant Generals responsible for corruption, adding that no one would point fingers on any institution if accountability would had taken place.
Ministry of Defence said that inquiry report is being reviewed in GHQ.
The committee also expressed serious concern over Rangers' deployment in the provinces without the permission of concerned Provincial governments and questioned 'why an institutional force is being used as watchman'.
Secretary Interior, Qamar Zamaan told PAC that the Rangers were deployed for the security of those persons who have been receiving life threats.
The committee showed dissatisfaction over the reply and said that due to security situation, people also felt life threats so why not Rangers be deployed for their security.
The committee chairman said that Rangers were not being used for security purposes but also now-a-days, it has become a status symbol.
The committee while examining the audit paras of Cabinet Division directed the Capital Development Authority to submit report within a month over usage of billboards for political purposes.
