Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad on Monday became a target for Twitter trolls after they — once again — failed to justify their place in the playing eleven in the series against Sri Lanka.

In the second T20I in Lahore, Akmal suffered the double ignominy of being out on a golden duck for the second straight match.

Shehzad fared little better, contributing just 13 runs off 16 balls as Pakistan lost the match as well as the series 2-0.

As expected, Twitterati took out their frustration on the duo as well as their saviour, Misbahul Haq. It goes without saying that a number of tweets ranging from funny to hilarious to downright condescending were sent against the trio.

Akmal's tally of ducks was highlighted here.

Here's another.

Someone dug an old presser.

This chap questioned the basis of Misbah's trust all those who can't pick a googly.

Another guy saw the silver lining.

This one came up with a pun.

And then there was this.

This one went a bit too far.

And this:

Another who saw the bright side.

This one found a few timely screengrabs.

This one is actually pretty funny.
