ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Ameer Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Thursday that neither trenches dug by the government nor shipping containers placed in the federal capital would be able to stop his party from holding Azadi March in Islamabad.

Addressing a press conference, Fazl said "the government's trenches are like plain ground for us. As for the containers, we will lift them up and throw them away".

Speaking about how long his party plans to stay in Islamabad, he said any decision in this regard would be taken by the opposition's Rahbar Committee.

"Although the government has said it would not close the roads, but veiled threats are still coming," said the JUI-F chief without elaborating on the nature of threats.

Responding to a question regarding his demands, he said that a committee was set up to probe the rigging in election 2018 but Terms of References (TROs) of the panel are yet to be finalised.

He said the Rahbar Committee has not turned down the government's offer for talks, adding that the opposition’s committee was due to hold a meeting with government's committee on Friday.

"We will decide our plan of action in the light of the Rahbar Committee’s decision," he said.

The JUI-F chief said his party would express solidarity with people of Kashmir on October 27 and its convoys would enter Islamabad on 31.

"We have to support the nation with full force,” said Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
