KARACHI: A woman who was arrested for murdering her husband told police on Tuesday that she had killed him because he used to assault her and was violent at home, authorities said.

Speaking to the media, the assistant superintendent of police (ASP) for Clifton, Imran Mirza, said the authorities had recovered the body of Siddiq from near Umer Sharif Park and that the deceased's wife, identified as Nasreen, had him murdered by her accomplices — Mashooq (alias) Bilal and Ahsan.

ASP Mirza further explained that since Nasreen had paid Rs50,000 to Mashooq (alias) Bilal to kill her husband, both she and her accomplice had been arrested.

Domestic violence claim

Ahsan, the third suspect, was employed as the guard of the place where the murder took place, the police officer noted. However, he was absconding.

In her statement to the police, Nasreen claimed that her husband, late Siddiq, used to engage in domestic violence.

Karachi police added that the deceased was a transporter and also had a tyre business. The weapon used in the crime had not been recovered, according to police, as of reporting time.
